If they want you to keep taking the current med, go back and read the label again. Does it suggest taking on a full or empty stomach? Are you doing so? It sucks to have a medicine that is supposed to make you more comfortable, make you feel so much worse. :(
Perhaps you could try breaking the pill in half, until the report reaches your doc?
I would keep calling and calling that pain clinic..the squeaky wheel gets the grease! They'll soon tire of the calls, and will be in a huge hurry to get your paperwork to your PCP.
Hang in there, friend. I sincerely wish you much better days ahead! Hugs x
After reading a post about how the brain stops making its own pain killers when you've been on opiates for a long time, I figured that my body is screaming for a vacation from meds so it can learn to take care of itself! It is a little scary to think of the pain being worse for a while, but I need to try a different approach.
I hadn't thought of bugging the pain clinic again, but that's a great idea. I'll call tomorrow to make sure she's finished and sent ther report! Thanks!!!
Hugs,
Cherry
I have only heard of hyperanalgesia recently and if that is the case then maybe getting off all the meds will work, I dont know to much about it but I guess that could be the case in more people as I have heard of people not getting relief no matter how many pain meds that they take. I am actually surprised more doctors do not throw it out more then that as they hate to prescribe. I dont blame them if this could happen we dont need more pain then we have.
Hope you are feeling better
Why do you feel that you are always suppose to be positive when you post? Do you only have positive things in your life? Of course not! That is what a support group is all about to help each other through these trying times. We are here for you not only to offer advise but to listen too.
Hugs,
Toni

This next part is in keeping with all my other experiences with doctors and clinics. I called PM clinic to make sure the report had been finished and sent to my PCP. I got a lovely recording telling me to call 911 or go to the nearst hospital because they're closed on Fridays!!!
I think I should go live in a cave and detox. Then I'll decide what's next. Meanwhile, my neck and shoulder hurt so badly today and I hadto work for 3 hours this morning.
WAAA!
You need to find a PM Doctor, even if you have to drive an hour, hell 2 hours, is better than not having a good PM Doc, I did it, I drove 2 hours to see my current PM before moving to Miami, so think about it. I have given you a couple of websites were you can find PM's in your area, use them, they might give you the answers that you need and deserve!
Everything takes so long.....
I really appreciate all the input!
In my country, where we don't have all the paranoia and hysteria about narcotic pain meds (no war on drugs ie cpers here) hyper-analgesia is virtually unheard of... I asked my pain docs (they work in a team) what their opinion was about it, after a DS friend was told by her pain clinic that she was suffering from it because her pain was getting worse and she asked for stronger meds, and they laughed when I told them what my friends doc had told her. I was under the impression Cherry that your doctor did not have you on strong pain meds up until recently, but perhaps I've got that wrong. If you don't mind saying which drug is the old one that you think you need to detox from?
I think it's time that you really started advocating for yourself. Find yourself a new gp and a new pain dr... they should both be the sort of dr who listens to you and believes you... and who genuinely wants to help you, otherwise it is all just a big waste of time. You do most certainly deserve to be getting some good relief. Most of us will never be completely pain free whatever treatment or medication we are given. We usually can't go back to how our bodies were before cp, because the pain pathways in our spinal column develop permanent changes after only a relatively small time with cp, so that the pain signals will continue to be sent to the brain even if the cause of the pain is miraculously eliminated. That said though, we should expect to obtain adequate relief... and we all certainly deserve compassionate, caring doctors! You need to go out and find some, so that you get a reasonable quality of life back... you deserve that!
Sending hugs and positive thoughts for you,
take care... Gaye... xxx
Work must have affected me more than I thought it would. No only have I been figting the usual pain, but I keep getting very hot, dizzy and sick. It feels like something is pulling at my neck and turning my head is very painful.
When I finally get to see my PCP, I will mention the PM doc I was told about. You're right. I think maybe I o deserve better treatment than I've been getting.
Hugs and thanks,
Cherry
