I had an appt. to get my own hair cut between my clients, yesterday. I went to the next town over where an old hairdresser friend works...so far so good.
When she leaned my chair back to shampoo my hair, I discovered that her shampoobowl was going to cause trouble with my neck, but there wasn't much I could do about it. She doesn't have the soft neckrests that I use in my salon and the sinks are hard as damned rocks without them.
Any time even a moment of traction has been rtied for my neck, my reaction is horrendous pain for hours following. This time I had to endure a stupid sink jabbing at the base of my skull and pulling my neck. I was hoping it wouldn't last long enough to do serious damage and I really needed that haircut!
By the time I got back home, it was starting. All of a sudden, it was like something had attacked my whole body. It wasn't just my neck...it was everything and my legs were even weak and shaky. I had to reschedule my last client and lie down. I had to take a larger dose of sleep meds to knock myself out or the pain would have kept me up all night.
The lightbulb (dim, sometimes) came on and I realized where it all came from...as my neck was killing me and shooting pains down my arm. It has't helped to know why I'm still in awful pain since knowing won't make it go away.
I managed to get through 2 clients this morning, but I still have to face the color/cut/wax that I couldn't handle yesterday. My head is aching, my neck is broken, my upper back and shoulder are wrecked...this should be fun!
Anyway...this is why I avoid any form of traction. Fingers crossed that this will settle down.
