I was thinking myself to get one of these stickers, not to use all the time but only when I need one when they do not have a basket for me to use, carry packages even a short distance can ruin my whole day and cause a flare. Does anyone know how hard it is to get one or what is the procedure I live in MI not sure if every state is different.

In North Carolina you fill a form out and bring it to your doctor to sign

Get a sticker David! It's really easy and it's not like your faking your pain just to get a closer spot at the grocery store, for pete's sake. I have one and it's the best thing ever. And like someone else said, if you're having a good day...don't use it and leave it for someone else.

Ok, Dave and others, pride goeth before a fall (literally LOL). Just because you have them, there's no rule you have to use them all the time!!! I've had handicapped plates for a couple yrs. and hubby got them last yr. Also have placards to hang if riding w/ someone else. If I'm at a church function where there are just a few spots and a lot of older folks in wheelchairs or walkers, I do not use mine. Or if I'm having an ok day, I need to take the extra steps. It really depends on the situation. In my county, you can go to Wally World and it looks like half the county has disabled tags. LOL I have them for when I need them and ignore them when I don't.

I had to get mine at the age of 24 because of work. At Wal-Mart they make you park about 10 to 15 minutes away from the store and one winter I fell and I couldn't get myself up for about 30 minutes. I slipped on ice I didn't have the strength to get up and it was 10:00pm at night no one was around to help me. I did find out later that my boufriend at the time saw me fall from he saw it from his car he was just too lazy to come and get me he didn't want to put out his cig. I talked to my work and they didn't care how many doctor notes I had on file I couldn't park closer unless I had the tags. So after that I got my tags. I never used a handicap spot because I didn't want my car to take up 9 hour of space. As time went on the worse I got and its been nice having them. Just like everyone else has sad just because you have them doesn't mean you have to use them. In my state its nice mine do not expire. the License plates I have do but the placards say non expiring so its pretty nice.
