Lisa, so sorry you can't sleep. It is 12:30 here so 3:30 on the east coast and I hope that you are asleep by now. We didn't get home until about an hour ago as my husband played music tonight.
Today would have been Mom and Dad's 62nd wedding anniversary. Jack Eaton, 20 of Hazard, Kentucky and Miss Marie Martin of Wichita, Kansas were married on January 7, 1950 in Darmstadt Germany. Mr. Eaton was a printer for Stars and Stripes and Miss Martin was the staff accountant. They returned from Europe on the Queen Mary that is now parked at Long Beach, CA and set up houselkeeping in Chicago, Illinois where Mr. Eaton was scheduled to attend law school at the Univ of Chicago, I believe. Mr. Eaton was recalled in the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged at St Luis Obisbpo. Mrs. Eaton had returned to Wichita, Ks to be near her family and upon discharge, Mr. Eaton enrolled at Wichita State University where he completed an economics degree sometime in either 55 or 56. He and his wife moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and he began his first job as a sales rep.
Out of this union were born four children, three daughters, Melinda, Melissa and Mary and a son, Mark, who died shortly after birth.
The Eatons loved each other and their daughters for slightly over 55 years when Jack went to heaven on St Patricks Day of 2005. Rusty would join him on the same day four years later. I had my dad for 48 years and one day and my mom for 52 years and one day. My husband, children and I let my share of their ashes go to sea just north of Haceta Head Beach, Oregon on March 17, 2010. My reasoning was that my mother often said how she would have loved to have gone around the world. They each crossed the Atlantic Ocean to serve their country in Europe. I thought if I sent them back together across the Pacific that though her earthly life was over, she might somehow know that she indeed gone around the world in heaven.
I recently had a picture of Mom and Dad on their wedding day in position to dance. They were just beautiful, so young and so stylish. This idea came about last summer as I was attempting to thin down my parent's pictures once again. I wanted to enlarge it for both of my sisters to have. Well, the project has become quite a bit of work....but I hope to have the picture adjusted to where it will print on 8.5 x 11 paper and can be cut into an eight x ten frame that I found that is just beautiful. But maybe, just maybe I can get this in the mail to them next week.
Good Night you all. Have a wonderful day with your families.
Melinda
Things are going pretty good this morning. My wife is able to move around a bit, but needs to stay off of her feet as much as possible. Thanks again for all your concern.............great friends!!!
I've been dealing with a cold for a few days. Just feel kinda blah.
Not going to do too much today.
I hope everyone has a decent day.
Big Hugs,
David.
My father's ashes were separated and put into two different main Rivers in the two Countries he had loved ones, by his request, his thought was the Rivers met the same Ocean, therefore he would be in the middle of us all. I loved the idea. When I'm missing him, I think of him as an Angel, residing in the middle so he can come to who ever needs him. I miss him terribly.
Life, here about the same. Nerve problem driving me nuts.
But sending healing thoughts to you all!
My Son is still in your Countrry and Loving it! He is in Memphis today. Funny thing I only recently noticed, he was in Eugine Oregan in November! Small world Melinda! X
I am going to read some scripture and journal a little.
I'm sorry I missed the chat yesterday. I was out cold.
I slept most of the day away and then went to bed early and slept another 8 hours. Someone said something about shutting down because of lack of sleep, so maybe that's what happened, I finally just shut down.
Joy felt like she was comming down with something yesterday, she hasn't gotten up yet so I'm not sure how she is this morning yet. We're supposed to do our rescedualed Christmas with her mom today so I hope we don't have to rescedual again. We'll be going there for lunch and then to her brothers house later so it'll be a long day.
I don't feel too bad so far. My stomach seems to have settled finally and I feel very rested for sure. I just hope everyone else is good. So far I'm the only one up. My mom was really sick to her stomach yesterday too. My dad seems to be the only one that's avoided this so far.
It's cooled off again after our record high the other day. A cold front moved through yesterday so it's back to winter again.
Today will be real busy for us and tomorrow Joy and the boys have a lot going on but I should be able to recover from whatever I do to myself today. This week has really worn me down. It was rough getting everyone back on a normal scedual and feeling rotten the whole time. I'm really looking forward to relaxing tomorrow.
I hope your cake comes out cool, Lisa.
Thanks for the wonderful story Melinda.
Everyone else have a great and hopefully low pain day,
Mike
I plan on doing nothing today but laying in bed. I might shower, I might eat...I don't really care right now. Right now, coffee & sleep and pain meds.
HUGS to you all, I hope you all have a great day my friends.
Tonna
My hands are cramping and painful from overuse so I've not been able to send out hugs to so many of you who need them...I'm so sorry about that. Please know it's not from lack of caring. I am completely exhausted.
I have to leave in a few minutes to go to my Grandaughter's birthday party. It's a good thing I love her so much! Nothing else could get me out of the house short of fire. That might not even do it.
Hugs to all,
Cherry
Linda that was a touching story. It definitely showed that you adored your parents. That's awesome and priceless. I lost my beautiful mom in Sept. 2010. I still miss her terribly.
Sounds like a few of us are having a difficult painful day today. I hate that I wish I could take it all away. Even if it's for an hour that would be a miracle. I'm planted on the couch for the duration of the night if anyone wants to talk let me know.
Gentle healing hugs,
Marci
Yesterday my niece was in an accident that rolled her suv 2 times. She assures me that she is alright. I'm afraid she will be feeling those aches and pains later today or tomorrow though. She feels very thankful that her life was spared and feels blessed.
Melinda what a lovely and dedicated story. I hope when you get your picture set up that you will share it with us.
I am sending feel good wishes to all. Lots of get well hugs too.
Toni
LE I love your remembrance of your Mom and Dad's anniversary. I think the picture idea would be wonderful. I lived in Wichita from 1953-1955.
Mike I hope the crud leaves your house. It sounds like it is circling. I think you may need a few cans of Lysol spray.
Toni I would have loved to participated in the "marshmallow fest" sounds yummy. Next time let me know and I will bring Kylie and graham crackers and chocolate bars.
Tonna, Cherry and Marci and Fluffy Duck rest your bodies and your minds. Feel better.
Paulina scripture and journal writing sounds productive and uplifting. I am glad you slept well.
SSLisa hope you are surviving the party. That is sweet of you to make the cake and all.
Shoes I am not far from Memphis. Should I scoot over and see how your son is doing? I understand
the nerve pain. I just wrap myself in heat when that happens.
Peace and love to all
hippy
I am glad you got to watch your grand daughter cheer and keeping her arms straight...wow.. way to go little one.
I know you will be looking for a nice comfy seat for those bleachers.
I didn't get to journal today of all reasons.....
I didn't have any paper in my notebook.
I usually get a new one every January and haven't so I will need to do that as it helps for me to jot down ideas and thoughts.
I used to write pages and pages but since writing began to hurt it got less and then finally none at all.
But now I am getting back to being able to write again!!!
Isn't that something to celebrate. I am so happy.
