Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Support Group
Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is any sudden and unexplained death of an apparently healthy infant aged one month to one year. SIDS is responsible for roughly 50 deaths per 100,000 births in the US.
I was roaming around Wallgreen's a few days ago and picked up a copy of Scientific American. It had a cool picture of a brain on the front and I'm a sucker for pretty pictures on scientific magazine covers. There's an article in the March 2011 issue titled "How Minds Bounce Back". I've not read the whole article, but it starts out with a story of how a mother lost her 17 year old son in a car accident and appears to be a report on brain function in coping with tragedy. I figured I'd go ahead and post it to you ladies while I was thinking about it (I've been meaning to for a few days). It might be a good read ..
It has some interesting ideas in the article. I like that it does champion the human spirit to deal with the worse in life and that scewing with that possibly can do more harm than good.
