Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Support Group
Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is any sudden and unexplained death of an apparently healthy infant aged one month to one year. SIDS is responsible for roughly 50 deaths per 100,000 births in the US.
If you were to donate to SIDS research, which organization would you donate to? I've had people tell me that they would like to make a donation in Austin's name, but I'm not sure which organization I would prefer it go to. I definitely want it to go to research. Until we really know what causes SIDS, we can't prevent it. Just my opinion.

Mainly I make my bigger donations to the March of Dimes. I tend to direct my funds to the March of Dimes more so because they seem to be the "umbrella" for not only SIDS, but premature birth (which I had a preeemie before Nick), stillbirths (sadly I know many mommies of stillborn angels too) and infant birth defects.
I am not one to just open up my wallet to many SIDS orgs because of the fact that I have read research on infant mortality dating back to the 50s. My husband's grandmother lost a baby suddenly back in the 50s. I was privledged to stacks of research she did on her own from back then. The biggest thing they have found really between then and now is that smoking is a no-no. They are no closer to knowing what causes SIDS now than they were in 1952. I just wonder how much research is truly being done? Sorry for being skeptical on this.
I just take issue with reading these research reports that are similar to already existing reports except for the name of the person taking credit for the research.
I am more about donating money to provide the support services to people like us, because truly they suck.
