Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Support Group
Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is any sudden and unexplained death of an apparently healthy infant aged one month to one year. SIDS is responsible for roughly 50 deaths per 100,000 births in the US.

It has kind of been on my heart to try to reach out to other families in my community who have lost an infant, not just to SIDS but all infant loss. There is a place called Whispering hope
( http://www.whisperinghope.org/ ) they are like a pregnancy crisis type center. They promote to keep teens/women from having abortions, have support groups, parenting classes, etc. They are also a christian based resource center (right up my ally :)) I have thought about trying to get in touch with the woman who owns whispering hope and finding out, if she knows, how many families have lost babies in my area. I would like to start a support group for infant loss. Just curious as to how support groups are ran, some ideas on how to be a leader of a group? Any ideas are welcome and opinions about it al well!

Can you point me to who she is? I would love to write her. If not whispering hope I would love to have a support group site like this one, but from a christian point of view. I love everyone on here and love this group, but I want to hear from other people who believe what I do. For me God is number 1 in my life, and I know the healing I have had and I want to reach out and spread the hope that is in the gospel. Thanks for responding!

Hi there. I do facilitate an infant loss support group, and it just so happens to meet at my church. The group has not had many members though, and I am in the process of changing it to a Chapter of Compassionate Friends, to reach a larger audience. I would be happy to talk to you more though. Just send me a message.

Brandy, my husband and I are thinking of starting a support group in our area for those who've lost babies. There are no Christian ones. There is a Compassionate Friends group, but no one that attend has lost a baby. Could I message you regarding some tips?

I think the Christian support group idea is a good one. I have the exact opposite problem, all of the groups in my area ARE Christian oriented and since I am not Christian I often feel very unncomfortable there. I would like to attend a non-demoninational one with people with like minds. So I think you starting a CHristian one for you and others in a similar situation with similar beliefs is a good idea. It's really soothing to be around those that can identify with you.
