A stroke is an acute neurologic injury where the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted, either by a clot in the artery or if the artery bursts. The brain perfused by that artery no longer receiving oxygen carried by the blood and dying with cessation of function from that part of the brain.

Stroke at young age

So my fiance had a stroke only 1 week ago at age 47!... tonight is his 1st night home and I am finding myself unable to sleep worried something will happen.... I have a duvet on the floor as I can't sleep and don't want to wake him. His memory isn great which seems to be the biggest issue (along with some issues with his leg)... its very difficult to watch someone who was once so independent & free being a shell of himself

He should get better. It's extremely early. Stroke recovery takes time.
Is he going to have physical therapy? My husband had a stroke a year ago When
He was almost 66. He is so much better now.

Well ,Tired is correct. With therapy your fiance will improve. One quick question for you.....why does your profile say you are 13 ? Hopefully its a miss match with this new DS. Best of luck to you both.

I couldn't get the date to move... I'm 33
Yes he will be having physio and occupational therapy. I know it's very early days but just didn't know what to expect when he came home.

Let us know how he's doing. If I can be any further help let me know. My profile is open. I've been caring for my husband almost 7 years now. He's had 3 strokes. But we are in our 60's, so hopefully your fiance's age will help him a great deal. :-)

I had a stroke three years ago and MY fiance left me last year. HE said he was sick of spending his time taking care of me. Last year was the first year he made more money than me and he Brought a new girl to our apt. Anyone had a horrible relationship story?

I had a stroke nearly two years ago. I was exhausted for most of the first three months, then things started to improve significantly, and have improved steadily since. Be patient, this will take some time, but things DO get better.

Snuggle up, it will make both of you feel better.

    I'm trying to figure out if I have the most! LoL :-0)i think I am now at ten plus another wedge to make it so they do not fall between headboard/mattress that runs full width of king bed.Did I win? I'm also sharing pillows with two doggies. Happy really likes getting up onto them and Belle is sometimes up there too.
