I had trouble with my right side not working and with falling, I couldn't understand words, couldn't talk right. I was not aware that what was happening to me was not normal, until one of my daughters saw me and made me go to the hospital. It was like my brain wasn't telling me that something was wrong, like being in a fog. I didn't pass any manual neuro tests, but I thought everything was fine.

All of this went on for 24 hours, then a slight migraine started. I didn't know how bad I was until my daughter told me later. My daughter had taken me to the hospital after about 6 hours of having these symptoms. The worst symptoms lasted for about 24 hours.

While in the hospital the Drs (not my personal Dr.) said I had a stroke, but then the neuro said I did not, even though I was still having problems speaking and weakness on my right side. After all the tests, the Dr said he was sure it was a stroke. The neuro was very unkind, and was more interested in my anti-depressants that I take. He said these same episodes could keep happening, (on call neuro) and said that I was having a migraine.

The CT scan did not show a brain bleed, or anything else. The neuro cancelled the MRI. The Dr was not happy with the neuro, and now I am very confused as to what happened to me.

I have spent the last 2 weeks, still tired although better, my speech, confusion and balance is better. I was/still am quite frightened by this, now I look back.

I do have severe migraines, but never had one affect me like this. The words of the Drs saying I had a stroke, keep coming to mind. I do have a neuro for my migraines, but he is 2 hours away, and is gone for about 6 weeks. My daughter thinks I should have an MRI, although I don't know what it will show now, or if it would show anything other than what the CT scan did.

To get an MRI now I'm out of the hospital, I have to have a Dr sign, and my family physcian will not, because the on call neuro said it was a migraine. I live in Canada, and it is very hard to get a good Dr, and a MRI is about 3-6 months wait, unless I pay at a private clinic, with a Dr recommendation.

I have joined a migraine support group here as well, but thought I would join here too, and get some opinions, and read others experiences.

I wondered if anyone has experienced these things, or if any of you have had migraines that have affected you like this, with stroke like symptoms. If this happens again, of course I will worry.

I've had migraines for about 18 years, with aura, losing vision, etc. But never like this.
