Stroke Support Group
A stroke is an acute neurologic injury where the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted, either by a clot in the artery or if the artery bursts. The brain perfused by that artery no longer receiving oxygen carried by the blood and dying with cessation of function from that part of the brain.

Hi all— my 50yo husband had a stroke on Jan 1. He spent a week in ICU, then 3 weeks in an acute care hospital to get him off the ventilator, and is now in week 3 of an inpatient rehab hospital. He is working very hard, but is getting frustrated with the soles of recovery. Any suggestions on how to get him to understand that’s it’s be a slow road? He is sooo impatient..... Thanks

I'm trying to figure out if I have the most! LoL :-0)i think I am now at ten plus another wedge to make it so they do not fall between headboard/mattress that runs full width of king bed.Did I win? I'm also sharing pillows with two doggies. Happy really likes getting up onto them and Belle is sometimes up there too.

I don't know how you help a impatient person patient. Maybe, point out every little signs of progress. Saying you couldn't do that before. Get him a book that explains how recovery from stroke works. Read it to him if he can't. Distract home when possible. With visitors, movies, whatever will take his mind off himself.
