I love my husband. We are different, and that is ok.
one difference we have is that I am a very highly motivated person who wants to be involved and be successful. My husband is happy to sit on the couch as much as possible. In the beginning, it was good that he was able to teach me to slow down some and not hold myself at such high standards and not beat myself up when I don't reach the standards I have set for myself. Unfortunately, my husband has not learned from me how to be more motivated. He took my advice one time and followed a few steps to look like he was more dedicated to his job and got a raise within a few weeks. I thought this would help him to learn to be more motivated in all settings, but then his job changed directions and he lost his job. He was out of work for over a year and struggled to even look for work at times due to his laziness.
Fortunately, he was able to find a good job. Unfortunately we had to move, which had caused so much added stress I question if any ofit was wrth it at times.
When we first moved, though, I was able to convince him to start a new with me, and we got up early each day to do DDP Yoga together - wich is Yoga made by a wrestler in working with a physical therapist and is acceptable for men - doesn't make you feel like you have to know how to be a pretzel or beieve in some eastern religious faith.
It was great. It gave us that hour before the kids got up to not only do these stretches and moves, that helped our aching bodies, but also to talk, which helped us deal with stressors. But life ruined this.
As life goes on, and I also took a job, we lost that time that we had together. My husband lost his motivation, and I fear he could lose this bran new job, that this whole stressful situation was initiated by, and I have lost my only connection time with him.
If you are reading this, I have 2 things.
1 - look up DDP yoga. I can't explain all the ways it helped, but I can tell you do research for yourself to see if it is right for you.
2 - findingtime for mental health and connections with others is very important, but I am not always sure how to make that happen in practice.
