On one hand I'm thinking I need a break then on the other I'm thinking I'm going nuts.
I am 23 years old I am married to my husband (2yrs this august, but we've been together for 9yrs)and we have a 3yr old son. My husband works full time 6 days a week at a Harley shop, and I work 2 days a week at a restaurant and I became a Scentsy conaultant this past november. I know it doesn't seem like much but I believe I am too stressed out. While my husband is at work I wash the dishes, put them away, mop and swiffer the floors, vacuum, clean the toilet, clean the shower/tub, dust, clean the kitchen, help our son clean his room, and pick up after himself, pick up trash and take it out to the dumpster, make breakfast/lunch/dinner for my son and myself, every morning during the week I am expected to get up at 645am to make my husbands lunch for the day, on Sunday when he is off work I also have to make him breakfast or else he won't do anything or he'll ask me 'where's my breakfast?' Jokingly after I have made myself and our son breakfast, I take care of our son (give him baths, clean him up when he's had an accident, take care of him when he's sick, I've potty trained him but when he poops, who wipes him? I do. When he gets up on the middle of the night because of a nightmare who's there for him? Mommy. I wash, fold and put away laundry and now refuse to put away my husbands, I go grocery shopping with my son, and if my husband comes along I get hassled the whole time because he hates shopping. I have taken our son to all of his check ups/sick appointments either by myself or with my mother. My son has had 3at different surgeries since he has been born, I was there for all 3, my husband just one. The last time my son was at the hospital in the er for blood work my husband asked if he needed to come home form work, I told him no, if it were the other way around I wouldn't even be asking I'd already be on my way. The point is the only thing my husband does is bitch and moan, work, pay the bills and that's it.
In the past week I have felt lime I was so close to snapping at someone and each time I got angry for any reason and had to raise my voice it's like I couldn't speak. I haven't been able to fall asleep easily in god knows how long, and I haven't slept through the night in over 3 weeks. On top of it all out of curiosity I did a stress assessment online, a score of 300 and > is considered severely stressed I scored a 470.
I can't think of any way to get rid of my stress. I mean I could take a vacation but can't really afford one. There is a convention I could go to in july that would cost me $1000 but my husband says I would have to pay out of my own pocket. I'm seriously considering going just to get away for a few days, even if it would be like a work trip. I've tried getting away for a couple of hours but I come back and don't feel refreshed or any less stressed.
Do I need to take this as far as going to a doctor? I feel like my husband would laugh in my face if I just told him I was too stressed. I mean he isn't exactly helping the situation, everyday he comes home and asks what I did almost accusing me weather I did anything or not. Just writing this is stressing me out like I can't breathe, almost like I'm going to have an asthma attack. I'm just ready to give up. And not do anything for a week.

I too have had those feelings of wanting to get away for awhile, but I have kids and pets and a husband and school and work and volunteering and obligations and ... the list just keeps going on. When I don't get time to myself, I can sit back and watch myself from the sidelines as I start breaking down. It's like watching an inevitable train wreck.
I've learned to schedule time for myself throughout the week: mini vacations. Working out at the gym is very helpful for me because it allows me to work out all that stress, especially by weight lifting and running.
It sounds as if you and your husband have different expectations about the roles each of you play in your partnership. Have you considered going to couples counseling to work this out? If he is reluctant to go, have you considered going to counseling just for yourself? Counseling has been extremely beneficial for me. It does take time, though, to find a counselor who has a professional style that matches yours. For example, some just sit and listen; some break down big problems into little manageable pieces; and some focus on teaching coping skills. The good ones (in my opinion) do a combination of everything as needed.
Happiness to you,
K
