My stress started full time back in March. My husband hates his job and uses FMLA excuses to get out of work for days/weeks simply because he doesn't want to go in. This has been going on for years now and before now, his longest time out of work was 1 month with fake FMLA excuse. Well starting back in early March he didn't go in for 3 weeks. Didn't tell me why. Also didn't want to have sex or even really look at me for a month prior to that. I was at my wit's end trying to figure out what was going on. He then went into alcohol rehab for 2 weeks. Came out of rehab and told me he would return to work the following Monday. Kept lying to me that he was going in only for me to come home and find him home with an excuse of some sort. He was gone one day when I got home, but cam home an hour later saying that he WAS going to go in but decided to go to the music store instead. The next day he actually called me on my way home to warn me that not to be mad but he is home. Finally that Friday he went into work.
All was okay for about 2 1/2 weeks until he got notice that some of his time wasn't covered and he could be fired. He was called into the office to sign something and it would be reviewed by HR. After that day he didn't go back because he told me that they can't fire him if he's not there, which is BS. So he was home for another 1 1/2 weeks on fake FMLA again. Then that weekend got into a motorcycle accident and broke several ribs and his scapula. So now he definitely couldn't work. That was on May 24th. It has been 7 weeks now he hasn't been working and went for an eval last week and lied to them that he still needs to be out another 2 weeks to heal even though he could definitely do light duty. He wants to be out another 2 weeks so he can go to a concert out of town and not have to deal with possibly being fired before that.
He keeps saying he's put in paperwork for disability pay but keeps saying he doesn't know what's going on because he hasn't seen any of it. So I've been paying ALL the bills for the past 2 months.
Now one of our cats is sick and we still don't know what's wrong with her. Guess who is shelling out hundreds of dollars on vet bills as well?! She will most likely need to be euthanized by this weekend.

If you're too sick to work, your too sick to attend concerts or any other activity. As far as his job is concerned, the company will not require him to come to the office to terminate his employment. If they find him to have broken company policies they can have the company attorney evaluate the HR issue and move forward with the termination.
I'm sorry about your pet cat though. It's hard enough going through financial problems and then having a sick pet with vet bills.
I hope your husband comes around soon. Is there any way you can speak to his doctor to get a better picture of what's going on with your husband's health?
