Sometimes I get sharp stabbing pains in my joints (mostly hands/wrists and feet/ankles) that last 3 to 10 days then just go away, No swelling or redness just extreme pain, and I have had blood tests, x-rays and PT. The doctors just tell me its stress related.
I also get headaches so bad I vomit,
I have had insomnia but other nights/days that I sleep for up to 20 hrs.
When I am extremely stressed I can't eat (my throat closes up if I try to swallow any food, but I can still drink) so I have lost weight but then when I am only moderately stressed I can't be bothered to cook, so eat too much junk and I gain weight.
Its a vicious cycle.
I've had some of your symptoms that you've described but I recently got into drinking power smoothies; a drink full of vitamins such as kale, spinach, bananas, honey etc. I found that after drinking these drinks for a few days, my skin took on a different tone, no more muscle aches or headaches.
Nothing better than vitamins in your body because I strongly believe that what we eat can affect the way we handle stress and it's problematic side effects.
Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone!!
I get pain in my shoulders and I hate headaches. It's agony!!!
I've learned recently that mild exercise is suppose to help in a lot of ways but I have no stamina and with lethargy can't get myself to exercise.
I had a dysfunctional functional father that caused me to have migraines for most of my life so looking back I see that I survived because I would do mild exercise. When I couldn't take it anymore, I would go bike riding; this made me relax and not go nuts. All of us had major stress symptoms but didn't know it. I lived in a brain fog and not able to learn very well in school (first grade to high school) and the rest of the siblings had it too along with my mom.
I discovered a breathing exercise by Dr. Weil that I have tried for a couple of days so it seems to be helping to eradicate the anxiety attacks and the air hunger, shoulder pain, neck pain.
I hope everyone here finds a way to de-stress. I know that lifestyle is the biggest problem and we can't change that but eating healthy such as avoiding lots of caffeine, sugar and lots of carbs can make a difference. Looking back, I see that the mild exercise saved my life.
Another thing that is so strange is that I can function very well DURING stress but when I take a break, then the symptoms surface and then not sleep very well or wake up several times during the night.
