Hi guys, I'm new to this group. I'm not sure if this is stress related or more serious but I'd like you to tell me your opinion.
I never say anything but I catch my mom talking a lot to herself. She isn't talking like you normally talk as far as loudness/clarity goes, but she definitely talks to herself. I'm not sure if she's aware that she's saying these things out loud where others can hear her or not.
She's never happy when I listen to her talking to herself. I don't she what she says in the conversation of one person to another(where she says what both would say), but it seems to me that she is saying responses to things she anticipates someone saying in response to what she says.
I know she isn't happy about a billion different things in our house, mostly regarding my sister staying with us. Still, I wouldn't consider this normal behavior. The first time I started noticing, I thought I was going nuts hearing a ghost talking but I looked downstairs and it was her. Whenever I walk down as she is talking to herself, she continues to do so. I don't think she's aware that she's talking and that I can hear her.
Anyways, I was wondering if this is just stress or if she could have something worse going on? This happens quite often but never when things are going great. She has no idea that I or anyone else can hear her when she does it. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks Guys.

Hi - Im not going to try to do any type of comparison at all because everyone is different and no two siutations are the same. However, I myself am dealing with high stress levels (extremely high levels) day in and day out.....and its been going on for qutie some time. I can honestly say that I have not been talking to myself. My children would have said something if I was. They notice everything. They notice that I have alot of headaches, that I'm tired, that I have no energy, blurred vision, that I haven't seemed happy for a long time, etc, etc. So talking to myself has not been something that I have done caused by stress. Not to say that it couldn't happen for someone else. Can you hear most of the conversation that she is having with herself ? If so, are you able to make sense of what she is saying ? Meaning....is what she is saying have anything to do with the cause of her stress ? Maybe what you could do is......pick one time where you are hearing her talking and say " were you talking to me ?" almost like pretending that you did quite hear her..even if you did.......just to see what type of reaction you get from her. I would try that. I would definately NOT make it obvious that you are trying to figure out what it going on. Just to see what would happen only. Based on the reaction.....can then help determine possibly what the next step would be. I know this doesn't offer much help...and it's more of an opinion....but maybe if nothing else....I gave you an idea on something to try. Stress is a very tough thing to deal with. Good luck.
