Stress Management Support Group
Stress management defines stress as a person's physiological response to an external stimulus that triggers the "fight-or-flight" reaction.Stress can be overwhelming. This community is for best practices in stress management.
I found some Signs and symptoms of excessive job and workplace stress:
Feeling anxious, irritable, or depressed
Apathy, loss of interest in work
Problems sleeping
Fatigue
Trouble concentrating
Muscle tension or headaches
Stomach problems
Social withdrawal
Loss of sex drive
Using alcohol or drugs to cope
Taking walks after work is a good way of letting off so steam if you cant manage to leave the stress at the door. Eating right and get a good sleep at night can also help people be better prepared to deal with stress in the workplace. Don't try to control the uncontrolable!
I cannot live like this and am actively looking for employment. I once threatened to resign on the spot when the Grinch belittled me and told me that I was not capable of performing my job duties. He left me alone after that for a while, but now it is getting worse. He does not allow employees to do their job, always jumps in as if we are incapable, he has no trust in us or our abilities. We then get told what to do like little kids, however, if he would just let it go he would see we are, in fact, capable and often do a better job then he does. It is quite sad that a manager takes it upon himself to do everyones job, but cannot do his own. He is the bar manager and he sticks his nose everywhere but, while the bar remains completely unsanitary for months. He is only making his job more difficult doing this, however he is a narcissist...he gets off on it.
I want to put my two weeks notice in to him specifically lol. I refuse to walk off the job when he attacks me though, I figured if I did this then HE WILL WIN. If I remain the lady that I am, and leave with respect for myself..I will ultimately prove to him that his tactics did not work on me. However every night I work with him until then (thankfully only two days a week) I feel so miserable and my anxiety worsens. I experience feelings of dread before I go in when he is there, and my mood takes a steady downturn. I hate even knowing and writing that this person is not only effecting my workplace, but my life so much :( But what keeps me sane is knowing, what goes around comes around. Alot of the employees there will move on to bigger and better things, they will move on from the stripclub business, they will move forward with their lives into better careers. The Grinch will always be trapped in the industry like he always has been, he will never move forward and it is his life. It is where he belongs.
I hope you are able to find another job and put your two weeks in. It's a huge relief! I can't believe how much happier I have been since leaving. I grew up with someone that acted a lot like my former boss and I wasn't going to let myself keep going through it.
