Stress management defines stress as a person's physiological response to an external stimulus that triggers the "fight-or-flight" reaction.Stress can be overwhelming. This community is for best practices in stress management.
I got a second job for Christmas time. I was in an elevator accident - injured my back bery badly. I lost the job because I couldn't physically do it, I lost the friends because I couldn't physically go out, I lost the social life, I got addicted to pain killers. I was just wondering if life was worth going on. Then the Workman's comp checks stopped coming in because I was "as back to normal as I would ever be" - This took like 7 months and I still had pain all the time. I had to get a job quick, so I went to a temp agency and got an ok job. It was stressful, but I liked the people for the most part. Then a guy that had been away came back to work there. I married him and we were pregnant (surprise!) 3 months later. I now have a beautiful baby boy and a wonderful husband. Other things have happened since - I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer a week after he was born, I've had 2 big surgeries and a lot of treatments in the 10 months he's been alive. But I have them and a wonderful relationship with the rest of my family.
moral of the story: if I hadn't gotten in that accident, I wouldn't have lost my job and my friends and my social life and ended up at my new job where I met the man of my dreams. Things happen for a reason, even if we don't see the reason for a long long time. I feel blessed even with all I've been through and I hope you will see the blessings in your life soon too.
I agree with the other post. You will probably find a better job down the road. It's happened to me and a lot of people that I know. Never give up! If you need to talk to a therapist or go to church, do it. But you need support and this website is great for that. I hope you feel better soon and sorry about your grandpa.
I was turned away from several jobs and never hired. I thought I too had found my career path and have often been disappointed. Plus, I had to have surgery last year. I was quite sick as well.
Because I was so ill, I moved in with my current love. If I had not been so despondent, I would not have been forced to change my life. I got another job, am now focusing on pursuing my master's degree, and am happy. I agree with the person below. Certain things do happen "for a reason".
Most importantly, please try to smile. Try to find a few things in your life that you can truly count on. Hopefully, you have a great friend or a wonderful family member you can talk to. If not, then I encourage you to speak to a supportive therapist. They can help you manage all this stress and hardship you are dealing with.
The most vital thing I want to stress is that you are a wonderful and amazing person that is a precious life. You deserve happiness and I know that eventually, after the storm, you will find that happiness.
