I had a c-section also, it was my second and my doctor told me to wait 3 -6 months then i could start trying. I lost my baby Carter due to a true knot in the cord, there was nothing else wrong with him.

I had a c-section at 32 weeks and the cause of my son's death is unknown. My doctor said to wait 6 months to physically heal. I waited 8 months and am now 24 weeks pregnant with my rainbow. I have heard a lot of people say 6-12 months.
I personally needed every one of those 8 months to heal emotionally and get my body back in order after the c-section but everyone is different.

I am so sorry for your loss. I also had a c section. The doctors told me waiting 1 year was ideal but that 6 months would be fine. I personally felt that I didn't even have to wait 6 months. But 6 months seems to be the minimum amount of time doctors want you to wait, depending on your age (6 months if you're older; 1 year if you're younger). At least that's what I was told.

i was told 12 months like you...but then talked to the nurse that has been supportive during everything and has a lot of experience dealing with families that have suffered this loss and she said 6 months is fine as long as you are emotionally ready...i plan on making an appt with a high risk doctor in jan and going from there...i lost isabella in aug at 37 weeks due to a cord accident and had a c-section so i am in the same boat as you ...but i dont think i can wait a year....

One of the reasons doctors like a minimum of 18-24 months between births after c-section (so waiting 9 months after the loss of a baby to conceive again) because studies show if you conceive before 9 months is up there is a slightly increased chance of uterine rupture in the future pregnancy. Also, many doctors believe that since it takes 9 months to grow a full-term baby it makes sense that it takes that long to recovery from physically (your vitamin levels, iron level if you lost a lot of blood- common in a c-section-etc).

My daughter who passed away was a very physically uncomplicated birth and I was feeling (again, physically) about 90% back to normal within a couple days. However, I was also advised by one care provider to wait 9 months. Some of that might be to begin to heal emotionally too. I think we'll be waiting about that, maybe a little shy of that before we try again.

My doctor said 3 months to wait for my body to heal. (My body recovered all the blood that was lost in 2 weeks - I healed very well.) He cautioned us to wait much longer than that so that we could take the time to process the loss, grieve our daughter and start to heal emotionally. I was scared of subsequent pregnancies until just recently. Our grief counselor saw a great change in me a few weeks ago and gave us the green light to start trying right after the new year. The end of Dec. will be 6 months out from our loss. We'll decide when we get to that point. (You're not alone, I wonder about it a lot, too.)
