Starting Weight Watchers tomorrow

Tomorrow marks the three week anniversary of losing Alexander, and I decided to start going to WW meetings in order to drop the baby weight. I don't want to eat through my grief and end up feeling worse, so I am going to try to improve my physical health and hope that helps with my emotional health. I'm not cleared to exercise yet since I had a c-section, but I'm going to start with short walks soon.

I'm nervous about being in a room full of people, and I'm scared they're going to ask why I stopped going to WW last July. If I say it was because I got pregnant, I'm worried about keeping it together if I have to explain how the pregnancy ended. I'm trying to get out of the house more, and so far I've been lucky since I haven't had to face any pregnancy questions yet.

I picked Fridays as my day to go because we lost Alexander on a Friday. The first Friday after it happened, I spent the whole day staring at the clock and re-living the day over again. I ended up clutching his pictures, sobbing as I tried to say a prayer for him as his delivery time approached. Last Friday I did better, and this Friday I plan to start with this positive change.

best of luck... i too have been thinking about getting healthier and about exercise - I want to start going to a class...I'm going to start on a Thursday, the day we delivered Isabella, after my 6wk post partum visit.. I think i can get through the class without having to tell anyone so that will make it easier...but i haven't been to the hardware store in over a month for just that reason...

Good for you! I joined the gym a few weeks ago to drop the baby weight and I am loving it. It makes you feel like you are in control of your life again. I have many friends on weight watchers and they are showing some great success. They love going to the meetings because the people are so understanding and motivating.

I hope it all works out!! Your positive thinking is making your angel proud! ((Hugs))

Good for you! It's great to find something to do, it helps keep your mind active instead of dwelling and reliving it over and over. I started running again and it feels great. I have a friend that also lost a baby that gained a lot of weight after her loss. She joined WW and started exercising and she lost all of the weight and looks great. It's a great program if you stick with it.

Im so proud of you. I know its hard. You are taking great steps to better yourself. Good luck to at you WW meeting. If anyone asks you about why you havent gone..maybe being honest and sharing your story might help you heal.. If you dont feel like telling anyone then dont. Do whatever you feel comfortable with. Thank you for tell us this. It is kind of inspiring to me. I know I need to do the same thing. I know a healthier me will make me feel better and if I am blessed again then I will be in a better place physically. I have not decided what route I am going. I have done weight watchers before and have all the material. I may try that solo. I know already my downfall is coke. I am truely addicted to. If I could switch to water I know that would help alot.

Thanks, ladies. Based on the number I saw this morning, I definitely have my work cut out for me. I figure it will give me something positive to focus on instead of just sitting alone in the house all day.

Taking care of yourself is so important. I do think diet and exercise are very helpful in this process. mI am sure you are anxious about what to say at the meetimg, My guess is that no one will ask why you stopped going, but if they do, I would prepare an answer like, "Well, sometimes life gets in the way" and just stress that you are happy to be back. Of course, if you feel like sharing your story, then go for it. It might help. Just go with your gut in the moment.

If you want to avoid the crowds and save cash too...myfitnesspal.com is awesome too. I've lost 18 pounds so far on it since about nov. anyway you do it I think it's great! Exercise and being healthy can help. I still cry after my workouts sometimes, but it's good to express the grief. I'm so sorry about your loss. Around week 4 the shock started to wear off for me and that's when things became difficult in a whole new way. I'm glad you found DS. HUGS!
