We lost our Emily about 3 months ago at 22 weeks due to an intra-amniotic infection. My water broke and I had to deliver her.
I have a 2 year old daughter. While I was pregnant, she really didn't seem to get that I was having a baby. So when we lost Emily, we didn't really address it with her, figuring on explaining everything when she was older. We didn't hide our feelings, but we were trying to stay strong. Honestly, I just don't think I had it in me to talk to her about it.
So around Mothers Day, a really hard weekend, I was laying in bed with my 2 year old and I said to her: "Honey, do you know you have an angel?" She said: "Yeah, Mommy I do." I said: "Oh yeah? What's her name?" She says "Emily." I was floored and of course I started to cry.
We had only named Emily 2 weeks before she passed, so we didn't use the name alot and we hadn't really used her name around my 2 year old since we lost her. Initially I thought, "Oh the babysitter, must have said something OR they talk about her at school..."
I asked the babysitter and she said that only once did she say something, and it was the day we lost Emily... she told her that she had an angel watching her.
Last night, while laying in bed with my two year old, I said "What is your angel's name?" She said "Baby Emily" I asked her "Where does she live?" She said, "In my house"
No I have never been one to believe in angels and spirits coming back, I am very cynical.... but in talking with a co-worker this morning and recounting what happened it made me think... Can children see stuff that we can't because they are so innocent?
Any experiences with this or any thoughts?

I lost my son Gauge at 35 weeks and prior to that had a m/c early. My son is 5, and demanded that we name our m/c'd child...he says he is a boy. He is very matter of fact about it. He also talks about Gauge as if he is with us...children are very open to see things we won't let ourselves see....I have had three very distinct things happen to us since Gauge passed that truly convince me that he is able to see us and let us know he is OK....

I wonder too. A few weeks ago my four-year-old-son announced that he could see or talk to (I can't remember which) "God's angels." I asked him what they look like and he answered "starfish." Then he told me they are all different colors, including silver, but not white. His description was so innocent and was something we'd never discussed, but closely desribed some other things I've read. I believe our innocent children do see more than we do. And I wouldn't be surprised if your daughter is seeing her sister. I think it is comforting to know that our babies are around us. We may not be able to see them, but maybe the younger members of our families can. Big hugs, Corrine

I lost my little Jake at 37 wks, and I too have a two year old. His name is Wyatt, and I have talked with him several times about his angel. He always says Jakes name. One night I went to put him to bed, and he looked over to the crib in his room, and said Jake. That's my Jake. I believe that children can see our angels sometimes. I think that they are definetly more intune with the spritiual side of things. I like to think that his baby brother is watching over him. HUGS, Shelly

I have two daughters one was 1 and knew nothing was going on but the other was 3 and knew something. she was at the ob office when we found out my angle had passed away and was at the small funeral that we had before we buired my Precious Timothy. she never refers to him by name but he was not named until he was born but she talks all the time about our baby angel. I think they are the inncance in our peace. God places a smile on them to let us know our angles are in his arms safe and sound.

I really believe that children can see things that we can't and even that they could see their angelsiblings... My angel was my firstborn, and I'm now expecting my rainbow, and I wonder whether my future children will see my angel, whether they will recognise her? Or is it just the ones that were here already? Only time will tell. My angel is a strong part of our lives and I will include her in the family, and my future children will know about her right from the start. So I will wait and see if they see her from time to time....
