I took celexa during my pregnancy because I suffer from major depression. Unfortunately, I also had to take meds for a back injury and meds for my heart. Depression during pregnancy is extremely hard. Please take it easy! We all want to read a birth announcement at the end of this journey.

My loss was at 37 weeks on my 37th birthday. I'm taking it one day at a time and want to try again in a few months.

Oh sweetie I wish I had an answer for you. Maybe you should look at it this way, you want to do whats best for your baby and that includes doing what's best for you, and keeping your spirits up. If you can't do that "naturally" then maybe you should think about the meds. I have no idea what could happen from taking them though, maybe you could get a second opinion from another ob. Did they give you any facts on the meds, as in what the side effects could be for the baby? No matter what I know you will make the right decision for you and the little one.

If your OB thinks it's good idea, maybe you should consider it. None of the medications are without possible risks, but depression can really keep you from staying healthy for your pregnancy. Ask your psychologist and OB about the risks and possible alternatives and weigh it carefully. If the risks to your health and your baby's are greater from your depression than from the meds, then you should take them. I know it's scary to do anything that might be risky but it might be for the best.

I'm on Zoloft now and my OB told me that it's the safest of all depression meds to be on during pregnancy. Just be aware that it makes you really tired. At lease for me it does! I've been taking it at night instead of the morning and it seems to help with the fatigue. I'm hoping to be weaned off by the time I conceive in the next month or two. Good luck!

I took lexapro during my two of my pregnancies because of anxiety and both babies were and are very healthy (they are three and four now). I know its hard though. My dr gave me an rx for wellbutrin right after Hope died, that I didn't feel I needed at the time. Now (almost 5 months later) I am a mess and am thinking about needing to get on something but I also want to try to get pregnant and don't want to be on anything when I do for that risk, even though I was on it with my other pregnancies. It is such a crap shoot unfortunatly. I think in the end, there isn't a whole lot we can do to change the outcome of things, we have to trust out drs and out gut.
I do know when my dr put me on the Lexapro during my pregnancy it was because I was having major anxiety attacks and he said the worry and anxiety was worse for the baby than the medication, I think there really is something to that. And I immediatly felt better, i felt like myself again, like I could think logically, rather than just being an emotional nutjob (my words for myself). I wish you the best of luck

I asked about Zoloft my ObGyn. I hate taking meds, and I refused to take any, when Daniel died. I was actually forced to take it (and I quit last month...) Anyway, my bigest concern was, if I will get pregnant how Zoloft can affect the Baby. The research showed, that Zoloft is "safe" until the third trimester. When you will approach 7th month they should take you off it.

My OB told me that zoloft is safe during pregnancy, I'm taking it now because I have taken it in the past and it worked great. If you think it will help you get out of bed and enjoy your pregnancy maybe you should think about it.

I took Flouxetine "Zoloft" while Pregnant with my second child because I quit literally wanted to have nothing to do with my son. It was really scary but my Doc told me it was fine to take them and my second child has no problems what so ever. Hope this helps.
