Hello. I never did do a memorial, simply because I couldn't handle being around people for a very long time. I think it's great that you are doing it, though. I don't have any really huge ideas, but a thought that came to me is that you could maybe set his little gown/blanket from the hospital out on a table with a poem. I've always loved this one, and I had it framed at the time of my loss. It is as follows:


Love Lives On
Those we love remain with us
for love itself lives on,
Cherished memories never fade
Because a loved ones gone. . .
Those we love can never be
more than a thought apart
For as long as there is a memory,
Theyll live on in our heart.

After Amelia's burial, my husband and I went to the river and floated some flowers. I also sang her a song. For her birthday next month, we want to send her balloons, a card, and a picture of us. My friends had done a lantern release at their vow renewal in Scotland, which I did not attend, and while the thought was nice, I was a little mad. I just wasn't ready yet and I feel like they let go too quickly. Looking back now, I can see it for what it was. Good luck at the memorial.

Release white balloons. Have family member write a message on the balloons. I haven't done this other idea that I saw on line...but will do it for his 2nd anniversary. Have little wallet cards with Kowen's name and possibly an ultrasound picture three.... and with a written/typed note of "Act of Kindness" create a page on his name, for intane Facebook, and have family member and friends share what kind of act kindness they did...in honor to Kowen.
I am planning to do that for my son Eli whom a lost 1 yr ago. I saw this idea after his birthday....and I fell in love with it....so I sure will be doing something like that for him.

We've moved around a lot since we lost Jane, but finally, we're settled and so last year on Mother's Day my husband and children bought me a tree that we could plant especially in Jane's memory. I loved the idea and the tree is thriving. I think once the tree is a bit bigger I'll make some kind of plaque to put by the tree. My mother planted a rose bush the year my baby died in her honor, she calls it Jane, it's almost 13 years old and it's a beauty, just like my girl would have been by now. That's just a couple of ideas I had. Good luck at the memorial.
