Stillbirth Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have been impacted by a stillbirth. A stillbirth occurs when a fetus which has died in the uterus, during labor, or during delivery exits a woman's body. For help and support, share your experiences and learn how others coped. Don't forget that you are not alone.
Initially my husband was the same, he would get impatient and not understand why I was still so emotional about it. We went to see a psychologist together which improved things a lot. She helped him to see that we all grieve differently and that every way of grieving was ok and that it was ok for me to want to talk about it and cry about it.
He also now says to me that as much as this has happened to us, it also happened to me on a whole other level.
There's the physical aspect of having carried her, having had to deliver her, and dealing with the scars and my changed body afterwards. Most importantly he also recognises that she was with me every single day for almost 9 months, she was my constant companion. I cared for her every single day, protected her every single day, talked and sang to her every single day. I already loved this little person deeply and my relationship with her was a lot deeper than I think it's possible for them to imagine. He now lets me cry about her whenever I want and he just sits with me and holds my hand. I'm very fortunate in that he has now come to realise that I need to grieve in this way. I really do believe talking to an objective third party was the best thing the two of us could have done.
