Stillbirth Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have been impacted by a stillbirth. A stillbirth occurs when a fetus which has died in the uterus, during labor, or during delivery exits a woman's body. I watch the tv reality show "Giuliana and Bill" on Style Network. If any of you are familiar with the show you know that they have been ttc for awhile and were unseccesful. They even did IUI, but finally conceived with an IVF treatment. Sadly they lost the baby at 8 wks.
In the last episode they met with an editor at Random House to talk about their new book. The editor said he loved it but there was one part that he was not sure if they wanted to have printed. It was the part about their journey ttc and the loss of their baby. Giuliana stuck to her guns and said that she wanted it printed because she has had a huge amount of responses from other women telling her how happy they are that she is talking about it because it is something that isn't talked about. She wants others to know that it happens!!
I was very happy hearing her say that, I was cheering for her. This was definite proof that people just don't want to know that pregnancy loss is a fact of life unfortunately. I happen to have family that has never once said the name Michaela, never speak about what happened to me, and if I bring it up they change the subject that very instant. My sister tells me "It wasn't meant to be, just forget about it and move on." I am so happy that I found this support group, you guys are like family to me.

As for your family, WOW! What do you do? How do you react? Most of my family knows I want to talk about Carly all the time, but my in-laws, they really have no clue of what to say. Recently, my mother-in-law had dropped by and towards the end of the short visit, she says to me, "well, how are you?". And I said, "not good at all". She looks and me and says...well that's good and she literally hurried out of the house. Afterwards, I laughed so hard, bc I thought, wow, these people really don't know what to do or say. It hurts, but at the same time becomes a little amusing. Hugs, Stacy
