This community is dedicated to those who have been impacted by a stillbirth. A stillbirth occurs when a fetus which has died in the uterus, during labor, or during delivery exits a woman's body. I lost my son Lucas at 21 weeks on Dec 22 2017. We're a day shy of the 6 month anniversary of his birth. I feel so alone. I feel like it was acceptable while it was still fresh to talk about it, but since it's been 6 months it's no longer OK. I was laying in bed tonight and I realized he'd be almost a month old now and I lost it. I left my sleeping husband to cry on the couch. I picked up my phone a few times, but don't want to bother anyone. I feel like I've used up my grieving time and I'm just a nuisance anymore. I'm not OK though. I still feel shattered. I don't know what to do or how to cope at this point. Does anyone have advice for how to keep going? I write letters to him in a journal, but that's all I have.
I don't know if you are a religious person or not, and I mean no offense by saying this, but you might begin your healing process by giving thanks. Not thanks that you lost your baby, of course not. But thanks that you have a healthy body and are capable of conceiving. Don't dismiss this blessing lightly. It is a gift that is denied to many women.
