I for one think it is a very good thing that you are asking questions.. I am so very sorry for your daughters and your loss.. Most hospitals will take pictures if you would like them.. and many feel it is very important for parents to hold their children.. ofcourse it is not forced upon us.. but the nursing staff will ask your daughter if she would like to. WE lost Ella when I was 5 days shy of being 6mths pregnant.. she looked like a baby.. very small.. 1lb 5oz.. and 11 inches long.. it depends on how far along your daughter was .. it is such a personal decision to take pictures.. and so very overwhelming to deal with such heartbreak.. my husband and I chose to hold Ella and take pictures .. ours and the hospitals.. again.. it is a very personal choice.. again I am so very sorry for your families loss..

i'm so sorry for your loss. tomorrow will be a very difficult day for your daughter and it will only get harder for the monthes to come. it really all depends on how far along she is in her pregnancy. my baby was born alive at 22 weeks. she was absolutely beautiful, everything was there, all proportionate. if i were you, i would definetly take a camera. maybe something memorable to wrap the baby in. depending on the size of the baby... clothing, a baby cap. i wish i knew i was going to lose my baby an hour after birth, cause i would have taken all this stuff with me. your family is in my prayers.

What ever you may think might not be appropriate, you are probably wrong. We lost our daughter at 38 weeks, full term beautiful girl. We didn't know what to do at the time, luckily, my cousin who was there had a camera with her. I was in the hospital for 3 days because I had a c-section so I got to spend more time than most mothers, but encourage your daughter and son in law to spend as much time as they want to with the baby. We had a blessing done by the hospital chaplain, we took a lot of pictures, we took locks of hair. We got her hand and footprints in plaster, dressed her in her special clothes. Anything they can do to create memories of the baby is a good thing. The one thing for sure is not to pressure her into anything that she may not be comfortable with.

i feel really bad because i should get my emotions under control to be strong for Kjera. i really appreciate the information and i have also looked up what size her baby should be. i want to find out the most likely time that it died. she was given a pill that was supposed to be for a infection and it made her really sick. i think that it was between the two ultrasounds i don't know if i can handle this after what happened to my other daughters baby nattie she died from sids and i was blamed and all of the hate toward me for her death. kKera has had a lot to deal with in the past 10 years. she has given me permission to bring a camera so i hope that i can also hold it. this would have been my 11th grandchild with the oldest 8 1/2. when people ask me how many grandkids do i have..how do i answer that?? i still tell them that i have 10 even though nattie died at 4 months. again thanks for all of your help..i am gonna change my photo to natties headstone..my younger daughter designed it well...who knows, if this baby has to be buried, maybe my younger daughter will allow her older sister to use the other half of the grave...cousins together...jaime

jme5: i lost my baby this past december. im now pregnant with twins. whn they are born and anyone asks, how many kids i have, i will make sure i say 3. 3 with me and my angel is with God. =)

I am so sorry for you daughter's loss. Don't be afraid to ask questions her. I know that you want the best for her and also know how hard this is for you. Well done for being such a supportive mother to her. They will give her an injection to bring on labour then the contractions will come really quickly. Just be there to support her hun, like you are doing. Once she's had the baby, they will encourage her to hold it or if she can't do that, they will take a picture for her to keep. I'm sure that she would want to hold the baby to help her make sense of her loss. It will be very hard for her and she'll need alot of support but with you by her side, she'll get through it. we found out it was a boy. he was 10grams and 4inches. they have decided to bury him even though it could be either way. my youngest daughter has a baby buried on one half of a adult grave and they should be able to put him in the other half. i am glad that my girls are good with each other like that.

they started her with some kind of pill and had to do the same thing one more time. the dr came in just to check on her we thought and he gave a little tug and he was here. she did have to go to surgery though because the placenta needed a little help so they did a d&c also. we got to hold him put him in a little wrap. ooooh and aweeeeeeeee over him. they were even able to get footprints and handprints. they made castings of his feet and hands and they even came out good. such a tiny little guy to give all that he did for his mommy and daddy. we are all hanging in there. i realllllly appreciate all of you for all of your help and support...jaime
