Stillbirth Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have been impacted by a stillbirth. A stillbirth occurs when a fetus which has died in the uterus, during labor, or during delivery exits a woman's body. For help and support, share your experiences and learn how others coped. Don't forget that you are not alone.
I try distracting myself, I've been reading alot, watching a lot of movies.
Yes, those symptoms are indicative of PTSD. Common symptoms.
Panic attacks are no fun!
I actually already had ptsd before my bub died, so I was well familiar with the symptoms, and had dealt with panic attacks and violent nightmares for years.
I was diagnosed years ago (with ptsd), and went to a couple of years of counselling and was on meds. (I found the counselling more useful than the meds, and don't believe that meds on their own is the answer).
I learnt good tools on how to deal with the panic attacks. It really helps knowing about the physiological reactions that happen in your body. Even if you can't stop the flashbacks from coming, you can learn to deal with your reactions to them.
So if you haven't told your Dr, or aren't getting counselling, give it a go.
The Dr will probably just write you a script for meds. But I want to emphasise- meds on their own are less effective. Truly, counselling is the key. It's a partnership thing.
I am praying for you tonight. I wish for you to find inner peace and sound sleep soon. I will ask my DanniJo to watch over you and everyone here suffering with these awful nightmares. Things will get easier for all of us I hope.
I love all of you ...you're all beautiful!
God bless and sweet dreams
