This community is focused on many of the relationships and issues that may arise within stepfamilies where you may find answers from some members and you may help other members with their questions.
Hello, Im new here. I know this Is probably off topic, but here it is. I am 48 & have been married for 23 years. I had 2 kids when I met my husband, he had 1. He & his whole family NEVER accepted my 2 sons, esp. his mother. She was nasty to my 2 boys.
As a result of all the past pain & rejection of my sons, among other issues, I am SO unhappy and want to divorce my husband. He has turned out to be not much of a man. He is a mommas boy. Her house is connected to my husbands body shop (his father was in the business also, & built it that way) He eats breakfast at her house every morning, she still gives him his vitamins every day, & cooks lunch for him. I know, ridiculous. have told him this is NOT normal, but it has continued. I had one divorce when I was 21, so I really don't want to get another. He gives me NO sense of security, and lies about money.
The worst part is, I have been sick for about a year. Too sick to work. I feel SO trapped. I know if I divorced him, he & his mommy would hide any money there is & I would get screwed.
I just wanted to vent a little.

Your MIL is part of the problem but your husband is the biggest part. He has allowed this to hurt you for so many years and that's not being a good partner. Carefully pick yourself up and concentrate on being the best person you can be - with or without him. Then ask yourself whether it is better to have a partner who hurts you or no partner at all (at least for a while).
