Step Families Support Group
Traditionally, a stepfamily is the family one acquires when a parent enters a new marriage, whether the parent was widowed or divorced. This community is focused on many of the relationships and issues that may arise within stepfamilies where you may find answers from some members and you may help other members with their questions.
I married my husband a little over a year ago. When we met, he had a daughter, 5 months old. I have been the only constant in her life from that moment on... Her mother is in the picture and we get along just fine. My SD is 3 years old now, smart, deceptive, manipulating... everything a 3 year old should be right?
She has been calling me Mom from day one, I have never forced that on her she just does it, except when her mother is around and then she calls me by my name. That has never bothered me. During pick up and drop off, she will tell her mom goodbye, say my name, hello, then when her mom leaves, she gives me a kiss and says I love you mom.
Lately I have been struggling with her because she has started to stop doing what I tell her, stopped listening to me, and just outright arguing with me. She doesn't seem to do this with her dad and her mom would never tell me if anything bad happens when she is with her...
What can I do in this situation? I love her with all of my heart yet she is just starting to be a huge pain in the (you know what)

I tell my children that they are lucky to have lived to their ages. I tell them that it's a good thing that looks don't kill because if they could they'd have killed me during their toddler years. And that if they ever feel unloved and want someone to be totally completely their own......get a dog. Because it sure isn't a kid.
What to do, you just keep hanging in there.
