Step Families Support Group
Traditionally, a stepfamily is the family one acquires when a parent enters a new marriage, whether the parent was widowed or divorced. This community is focused on many of the relationships and issues that may arise within stepfamilies where you may find answers from some members and you may help other members with their questions.
i have a step son that we have every other week. we used to get along so well and used to laugh and joke but for the last year or so he has become awful to me refuses to eat if i make food even though its the same as what his dad would make refuses to ask me anything, he wanted to stay up late and my hubby said we see what i would say and he wouldnt ask he just went to bed, i would gladly say yes to him if he just would ask i think in this last week he has been here he has maybe said 3 sentences to me. i dont know how this is going to go once they are out of school for the summer and i have him 24/7 every other week i dont know how much more i can try and reach out i try to make him his favorite food and always get him something if i get the other kids something i have never treated him differently then i do my bio kids but its like he hates me and everything i do
Have you spoken to hubby about this? How is he handling it?
Unfortunately, there is no magic cure-all for this.
I have done the "going out of my way" in making the stepkids "like" me when they decided to be hateful.....all it did was give me more grief.....I am dealing with my 14yr old SD now about this.
Try to do what you always have done. Don't go out of your way, don't react emotionally. Try to "step" away as much as you can.
