Traditionally, a stepfamily is the family one acquires when a parent enters a new marriage, whether the parent was widowed or divorced. This community is focused on many of the relationships and issues that may arise within stepfamilies where you may find answers from some members and you may help other members with their questions.

I havent been on DS for about 2 years...I was struggling with an affair my husband had, and was leaving me for her, it broke my heart. I was blind-sided. Thats how I discovered this site, and it helped I was on the infidelity and anxiety groups, but really I should have been here.

I am reading, then venting (aka replying) and then relating all at the same time. Its wonderful to feel that I am not the only one in this exact type of situation. I cannot tell you how many times I am down on myself about why this scenerio is the way it is. It must be 'me' ,i really must be not likeable,, why can she not like me? But now I see its common and that validates my being.

oh, man. it does feel good to know other people are going through or feeling the same thing sometimes. that alone helps a lot. good luck to you.

yes it does help to know you have support. I am sure sorry for your hurts!! Geeze! Gosh I am sorry. I read ur profile and saw your hubby cheated with the X's friend.
That is something the X would love. She has tried for years to convince me he is seeing her. BARF! No wonder the kids 'hate' me. Their nut job mom is hell bend on distroying. Sooooo

I know how you feel, my sk's wrecked my marriage, as did his ex, that with regular marital struggles I believe put him into depression and then a midlife crisis. He has all the signs of an affair, swears there isn't one, but refuses to work towards marital repair blaming my accusations which came after the fact of his behavior that suggested that. Seems to me he has no excuse to try and work towards what we had before which was good, unless there is somebody else...The step kids though "could be" the total reason, but I just "feel it" and other evidence suggests it. Is this common, that even with possible evidence they just LIE until they are caught red handed? This has never happened before. Seems like you are moving passed it though? Good for you, but I know how it feels while I am going through it, just consumes your heart.

Oh my gosh, how many times have I doubted myself and taken the blame when things went wrong. And then I came here and saw that it's not just me, that others have the same issues, and surely we can't all be wrong lol.

It's helped so much to vent and discuss and sometimes to see someone 5 years ahead on the journey and to hear what can be done differently. I am grateful for this group, even if I don't make it here every day.

So I ditto the thanks!
