Traditionally, a stepfamily is the family one acquires when a parent enters a new marriage, whether the parent was widowed or divorced. This community is focused on many of the relationships and issues that may arise within stepfamilies where you may find answers from some members and you may help other members with their questions.
I've been married 6 weeks. I was a widow for 7 years after 27 years of marriage. My new husband and 30 yr old son, who lives with us, got along fine until the wedding. Now my husband says I'm a bad mom cause I don't make my son do things around the house. My son works and does help around the house just not like my husband thinks he should.
I'm in the middle and I hate it!!!!! I don't know what to do. The last seven years since my late husband passed was hard on my son and I. We grew very close and to keep peace things were let go, perhaps too much.
My husband is 54 and has no children. He lived with his Mom all his life.

This is my first post so thank you for sharing I don't feel so confused and alone. It is so hard to have my DNA critised. I just feel like running away today. BUT that is not how I usualy feel. So remmember the love you have for your husband and work on your relationship I guess. x
