Spouses of Transgender Community Group
Being transgender it's not easy but neither for their spouses. This group is created with the intention of helping and getting to know others that are in. the same situation or to just educate those that are on the other side of the fence and want to know how does it feel or how would it feel to be a spouse of a transgender person. The main objective of this group is...
That said, I can understand you feeling territorial. I mean, it is likely easier for two people who have both always identified as lesbians, to get excited about two mommies. But for a hetero CIS woman who is already being thrown into a situation where she is questioning her own identity, NOT because of who she is but because of who she's with -- and also because of how she sees herself in comparison -- this would be very hard.
At the very least, for the sake of honesty and open communication, you should let your spouse know you don't currently feel comfortable with this but that maybe your feelings will change throughout the transition, and possibly before you have your first child. Maybe there is a compromise? A name that is not daddy but not the same name you will have either? It seems so early for you in this process that it is a big jump to make at this point but might not seem so bad later. Sounds like a good topic for the therapist's appointment!
Good luck <3
I second the open and honest communication about the titles you two use, and just everything in general. The only way my marriage has remained in tact was to have open and honest and respectful communication. Your spouse may be the one transitioning, but you're also going through your own transition. It's important that you check in with each other. *hugs* because I KNOW how hard this process can be.
