Spouses of Transgender Community Group
Being transgender it's not easy but neither for their spouses. This group is created with the intention of helping and getting to know others that are in. the same situation or to just educate those that are on the other side of the fence and want to know how does it feel or how would it feel to be a spouse of a transgender person. The main objective of this group is...
There is just not enough information out there for people who have been through a partner’s transition. I have spoken to therapists, counselors, PFLAG representatives and they all agree, there are far too few resources available. Even the pros are not sure what to say to someone when their partner changes gender/sex. Internet searches don't offer much. Thank goodness for dailystrength. So, at the encouragement of therapy pros and other women who have experienced the loss of a relationship when their partner transitioned, I have started a research project that will provide support, ideas, and shared experiences. The research is academic (I am a professor of Sociology), professional, and ethical. It is not my intention to demonize those who transition. In fact, the work is not about them at all. The research is about those who feel left out of the trans-person story. I would love to have some folks from this site contact me and participate in a confidential interview (phone or Skype). I respect your privacy. I have already conducted 15 interviews with women who have left their relationships when their husband transitioned. I would like to talk to more. If you would consider talking to me and telling me your story, leave me a message here and we can find a way to contact each other. As I mentioned, I will respect your privacy. I hope to hear from a few of you.
