Spouses of Transgender Community Group
Being transgender it's not easy but neither for their spouses. This group is created with the intention of helping and getting to know others that are in. the same situation or to just educate those that are on the other side of the fence and want to know how does it feel or how would it feel to be a spouse of a transgender person. The main objective of this group is...
But on the other hand, I think we are afraid to dig too deep and stir the pot while there is no escape for anyone, so we don't talk about anything deeper or remotely controversial. I know he is still discussing hormones with his therapist but he has not shared any of it with me. And I have not shared with him my relief having stopped sex.
I guess it has been a nice break from our problems, but I am not stupid. I know it is there waiting for us. And the pandemic is just delaying any resolution.
That said, I called it quits on my sexual relationship with my spouse back in July 2019. We were still sharing a bed, but I decided to start sleeping in the guest room in February. At first, I felt badly about it, but then I decided to start enjoying this time to myself. It's kind of nice in some ways. We've had a few times where I climbed back into our old bed, and we have held each other. We love each other. It's been stressful, and I have bouts of anxiety. I find myself super thankful to have such a great partner.
My spouse is now using they pronouns full time and switched to a female version of their name. They are out to everyone for the most part. They have started on HRT. I ask them about how it's going and am genuine in my curiosity and care. I am also thankful that I am not climbing into bed and feeling that we are supposed to have a sexual relationship. For me, it is much easier to be supportive without this pressure or concern.
I don't know what the future holds. I love my family. This time at home has been a reminder of that. I hope to extend this 'til our son is older. But that's all I got for now. I hope we all stay healthy and focus on caring for each other. Thanks to Cora for starting this thread.
