I’ve realized that the only part of him that hasn’t changed is his back. So these days when I want a hug, I cuddle up to his back. We do it in a semi joking way but really it is quite sad. I want him to hold me and hug me, but those horrible things are on his chest now. Backward hugging doesn’t really work though, as he’s not a contortionist and can’t hug me backwards. Your post brought tears to my eyes. I know this feeling will come to me all to soon. My heart aches for you and all the struggles you are facing. It is so hard saying goodbye to the man you love. To watch this other person "kill" all the little aspects you love while wanting and being asked to fall in love with who is "killing" him off. I am dealing with similar battles with hair and skin disappearing and softening. Hugs and love!
