Spouses of Transgender Community Group
Being transgender it's not easy but neither for their spouses. This group is created with the intention of helping and getting to know others that are in. the same situation or to just educate those that are on the other side of the fence and want to know how does it feel or how would it feel to be a spouse of a transgender person. The main objective of this group is...
for over 13 years...now I find there are others like me. Love to you ALL
18 yrs together, 3 kids (11, 9 and 5)... and he's my best friend. I can't imagine my life without him, yet I have been forced to think about it as a possibility. It's just a mess.
Untangling your life from the loved one you built it with will probably be one of your greatest challenges. It is one that any person going through divorce has to face and I think our struggle makes things especially difficult because we are also mourning the loss of the person we love.
With that being said, your life will never be the same. NEVER. I am sorry to say this (because I know how very much it hurts and how hard it is to accept) but the life and person you knew will never be again. I finally came to gripes with this (after knowing the truth for 11 months) and that's when I filed for divorce. There is much sadness when I think of how I never got to say good-bye to that man and that life BUT my head is finally clear in that I know I need to do this and I know it will hurt but I must get through it and I WILL. If I want any happiness in my future and a stable life for my kids (5 and 1) I must do this. When I say that I never got to say good-bye, I mean that my husband started dressing and changing immediately after telling me. I so wish that we could have taken a few pictures together (especially with my newborn daughter) before this transition began. But I didn't get that. Consider yourself lucky if you do.
I am here if you ever need to talk!
I told him that last night... in my download (I said a lot of things last night)... that we will NEVER be the same. If we stay together and he stops what he's doing, we will always know what he truly is. If he doesn't stop, I can't do it forever. It's a catch 22.
You are not alone sweetie, there sadly are thousands of us, all blindsided, rattled, grieving & scared shitless. You are smart to come looking for answers. I am into a 25 yr marriage that started out as "openly crossdresser". It's NEVER just about the clothes, it will never be enough for them It is a fetish, an addiction & an obsession. Just like drugs, they are constantly chasing that high they first felt when they slipped on a pair of panties. And for every 2 things they admit to, there are 50 left hidden. If you dig deeper you will find it is so much more.
Get counselling JUST for you
Find a friend you trust with YOUR heart, do NOT isolate
Get your cards in order, but do it STEALTH (even the most "sweetest of bff's/soul mates" turn nasty when you become the gatekeeper instead of enabler.and will bring out the big guns to protect their secret, finances, future, freedom)
Do NOT trust them when they say, "This is all it is, I want to stay married"
TG NEVER just "shows up" later /midway. They knew all along but lied to us.
I have just found out that my husband is indeed gay, even though he has always "sworn on his grandmother's grave" he was straight. He still denied it even though i have concrete proof. My story is no different than everyone else's story. Sadly, there are far too many beautiful, loving, caring, supportive spouses out there that fall prey to chickenshit bullshiters.
You deserve so much more out of life than this pain you are feeling right now. We all know exactly how it feels. Bless you, keep posting & keep searching these types of forums. You will see the same MO & pattern & weirdly, it may give you piece of mind knowing it was nothing personal, you are not the only one that has fallen prey & there is so much advice on rebuilding your spirit & self back up.
You deserve happiness & love just as he xx
Anyhow, I'm rambling. But you WILL BE OK, I promise. And as scary and tough and unimaginable it all seems, you will eventually find relief in not having him around all the time. For me, the first 2 weeks were really tough but now, when he does come over, I feel my body tense up right away.
I'm glad you are here too leftbehind, and I hope you can at least have a place to vent and express yourself without judgment, or even worse, having to cater to someone else's feelings!! We all know that I'm talking about right? ;-) Welcome friend!
