I had been complaining of sexual harassment; I was being verbally bullied with aggressive, sexual language. I complained twice in writing and then once more when I found a hate note in my belongings.
The next week I came in and was terminated for creating "a hostile work environment".
Another injustice of the world is that there isn't much I can do about it. I'm speaking with an attorney but since it is such a small business they might be too small to have any responsibilities under the EEOC meaning that even though this should be cut and dry it certainly is not.
Thank God I am no longer expecting anything that "I deserve". This is just one more challenge; all be it one of the most pain in the ass.
I did speak with an attorney and there isn't much that can be done at this point. It doesn't really meet the requirements for "sexual harassment" as defined by law. Most companies would've fired the offender just because it's so unprofessional. It's just not that way at my place of employment.
I can file a suit or threaten to file one based on a retaliation claim. I complained; they retaliated. But even that would only get me back wages and the attorney would take half. In my line of work the professionals are in small numbers so it's almost just better if I move on quickly and save my reputation. It's odd that I have to sacrifice serving justice to save my reputation because no one likes a "tattle tale."
I have some good prospects so I'm not too worried. I appreciate your support nonetheless.
I had nothing to do with it, but it is kind of ironic. I had been there since the first day... I was there 7 days before the last...
I have an interview for bigger and better things in 13 hours!!!
