The OC is 5 months old and so far the OW has not gone back on her word of no contact. My H and the OW agreed to no contact before I found out about the affair and OC. With that said, my H has done his best to fix our relationship. I couldn't ask for anything better (well.....I could - don't have an affair.) I am always paranoid about the future. What if the OW goes for child support?? What if in 20 years the OC is knocking on my door wondering where her father is? What if....ugh!

How does the court calculate child support? I make more than my H at the moment. . . will my income be included in the child support amount? I am not sure how this all works and I want to prevent the white trash beetch from getting MY money.

I think you have to prepare yourself that the child will come looking for her bio father at some point- who wouldn't want to know their biological parents? We have no contact as well and I am preparing myself for the fact when she is 18. As for the child support, I think you also should prepare yourself that the OW can come after that. Unfortunately it is completely within her legal rights to do so. And it SUCKS! I would gather as much information as you can. It depends on your state. It is usually just a basic calculation of a certain percentage of his income, I think Illinois it is 18%?? In some states they base it on household income, so yours would be included too, but I don't know which states that is and if it always happens. Get an attorney to find out all your legal questions.

In Illinois it's 20% net income of the bio parent, not the spouse. If DNA has not been established, that will have to be done before a child support order can be put into place. He will likely have to pay back support from the date she filed for support. In Illinois, my husband has to pay for the health insurance coverage and half the medical bills. We are also responsible for half the daycare costs. For us, the courts did not take my children into account or our current financial situation. They just calculated the net income and she got 20% right off the bat. I would talk to an attorney and find out what your rights are.

Expect chikd suppirt and honestly its the right thing to do. Unless he signs over the right to his child he should absolutely be paying child support. Unfortunately if it goes to court they will take atleast 17% of household income.

You might want to consider legal separation and file court ordered child support for your kids.

That should secure your income and a smaller percentage of his.
This situation sucks and can really become very emotional and costly. Be prepared for all of the possible outcomes.
