Sports Injuries Support Group
Sports injuries are injuries that are caused by participation in a sporting activity. In many cases, these types of injuries are due to overuse of a part of the body when participating in a certain activity such as runner's knee or tennis elbow.
Welcome to the sports injury forum. I am sorry to hear your ankle is still bothering you. Yes, it is normal for you to experience pain still after an injury while playing basketball because that means the ankle is not fully healed. I learned from my experience. I injured my right ankle in September 2005. I only rested it for about 2 weeks and I thought that was enough time. I played soccer on it after the 2 weeks were up, and volleyball. Every time I would play a sport, my right ankle would hurt. At the time of injury I heard a pop, and every time I moved my ankle I heard a crack and it hurt a lot. My ankle was still very sore up until April 2008, which was when I had ankle surgery done to repair the injury that did not heal properly. It took me a while to get it looked at and repaired because all I wanted to do is play sports, and I also worked a lot where I had to stand on my feet for many hours during my shift. So I think being on it for long periods of time without letting it get the proper rest contributed to my ankle not healing. Have you tried wrapping your ankle with an ace bandage? I tried that before hoping it will give me some support, but it did no help that much.
Please get your ankle checked by a doctor. I am glad I got my ankle looked at and fixed. Even though it took me a while to get it checked, it is better than not getting it checked at all.
Take Care,
Cassie
