While I realize they do get tired of paperwork, and they do get tons of it, its still part of the job. And a necessary evil in any kind of process whether its for assistance of any type or SSDI.
While he stated you could do light duty but also noted all those stipulations, I would think that would be sufficient for SSDI in showing that you will not be able to get any job that will accomodate your limitations and needs.
Have you talked to your attny yet about your Drs decision to do no more paperwork on your behalf? I would do that asap so that if he has any ideas, he can start planning what to do soon. He may be able to contact the Dr on your behalf and get him to agree to do them if he can be compensated for his time. I know the last thing you need is for someone else dipping into money you do not even have but maybe it could be set up to come out of your back pay. But, that is just a thought and I really have no idea if its anything that would work or not.
Also, SS needs to know that your Dr has had a change of heart and does not want to fill out anymore forms. I hope he still does a good office note when you go in for a visit and notes adequately how you are doing. Even if he does not want to do their forms, he should at least provide a thorough note of how you are doing.
Please ask your attorney if you should look for another Dr since this guy is so familiar with your health issues but just does not want to do forms. Please do not just cut your ties unless you have someone else that you know will provide you with good care.
I am sure I have not said anything to you that you have not already given thought to but wanted to encourage you to hang in there. I know its hard as I went through it for so long that I went from depression to some very dark places in my mind as I felt so let down by a system that was suppose to be here for me and it was the last thing that was happening. ANd as you know, we are not the only ones. It should not be this way but I am still holding onto hope that some of the new changes that have been put in place will make it better for some of us and especially someone in a situation like yours where the professionals involved are getting totally fed up with spending so much of their time redoing the same paperwork.
Try to keep your chin up in spite of how you feel right now. Also, ask the attny about contacting your Psychiatrist about helping with this paperwork and see if that will be another option.
Try to work things out with that Doc before changing...b/c then it MAY be questioned why you switched Doc's. I only say that b/c it was used against me when I tried to find the right Pdoc to treat my PTSD.
What are you going for SSD for?? Pain or Mental Health Issues, or both. If it's Mental Health issues, then you do need your Pdoc in on the paperwork process.
Unfortunately the downside of SSD is the waiting process. I didn't qualify for SSDI b/c I had a retirement plan that I didn't want to cash out just to get SSDI. Luckily, I'm married and my DH works, but I have 2 young kiddos to take care of too...and it's super tight on one income.
Good Luck!!
