To all those who are still fighting and waiting patiently for thier ssi or ssd,my prayers are with you and i wish you luck your money comes through.For those who were excepted and are recieveing ssi or ssd ,how is life treating you? I am very thankful for my checks so please dont think i am ungrateful in anyway.after i almost died in a major car crash i could no longer work due to severe pain in my back,hips and legs.So my check was much appreciated.The problem is even after 7 years i still feel like a failure .My mind tells me to get back to work while i know for a fact my body cant.I am trying to care for a family of seven on my disability and barely keeping a roof over our heads.i spend most days crying.I ask myself why god bothered to let me live through the crash if i have to live like this?? I was always such a busy person and loved working ,it gave me self worth.I try so hard to stay positive but it seems to get harder and harder with each passing day....Does anyone else have these feelings.?

I am like a lost person:(:(..........Like you, I want soooooooooooooo much to be back in the work force.........work was actually my hobby.........I guess......as I seem to have no other interests, or "talents".

I was lucky in a sense to file and collect SSDI very quickly........and while I appreciate the income........I would give anything to just be able to be active and work again.....................I just can't seem to find anything to occupy my mind that has any real meaning in it for me:(:(:(

It becomes very depressing:(:(:(

I wish you the best of luck:):):)..............and for those of you still waiting and fighting for SSI or SSDI..............I hope 2013 is the time for all of you:):)

I would say don't base your worth on your abilities. You are worth so much regardless of what u can or can't do. :)

Thanks for your comments...I was what you would call a work aholic,..i did above and beyond for my job and always seemed to have everything worked out from home to my job.I really dont know how i did it,getting four kids here and there plus working full time.i concidered myself a role model for my kids,showing them good work ethics.now they just make smart comments on how we are poor and alls i do is stay at home.even though they know about my accident and the pain.i just felt alive while i was working.now alls i have is doctors appts, and never ending housework....not much to feel worthy or proud about.....

Its a big shift in self identity because our society judges a person by "what they do". Tell someone you have a new boyfriend, they ask "what does he do" not "what is he like".
Takes a lot of acceptance & changing expectations.
I'd just tell the kids "I love you, too" and would no matter whatever happens to you.

I understand your feelings on this issue. I worked all my life and didn't think twice about working 12 hr days or 2 jobs even to support my family. Now I feel worthless and sick. Never thought I would end up here trying to survive on a disability check.

I miss working, I miss my friends at work, I miss being of value and having the satisfaction of accomplishment that came with working.

yea nothing better than that paycheck to make you feel good...i always new i had another one comeing the next week ,not haveing to try to balance a litte bit of money for a whole month.as i said i am thankful for what i do have and maybe someday i can be happy again with who i am.wishing you all the very best too...if anyone ever wants to chat just send me a message.

I've been really bored. It's hard to get out and do anything. I too am thankful for my SSDI check however I would be making more money than I am now if I could still work. I feel like people are looking down their noses at me like why do you deserve disability. When people ask me what I do for a livi.g I tell them I'm retired cuzI am too embarrassed to tell them I am disabled. Even though I am only 51 and I'd like to meet a new person share my life with its hard when you tell them you're disabled. Seems like nobody wants to live with anybody that has a disability. So anyway I hear you and I understand. I'm sure everyone has their own obstacles to overcome both financially and physically. Hang in there that's what I'm doing. Hopefully it'll get better. Someone may come up with the new surgery or something to help you with your disability.
