You have a good start and that is the will and a quit date set.
The best and permanent quits are planned.
Plan for the cravings and triggers, cuz as sure as the sun is gonna rise, cravings and triggers will happen.
Many of us have used sugarless candy, gum, keeping busy, walking/exercise, and other devices (i.e. patches, and nicorette, etc) to get us through the tough times. Cravings usually last 5 minutes.
Get rid of all smoking paraphernalia (i.e. ash trays, lighters, and cigarettes).
Avoid other smokers or smoking areas until you are strong. enough. Change your routine. Drink tons of water. Come here every day to do roll call and pledging to keep yourself accountable and to get the support you need. You will need a positive attitude.....you are not losing your best friend.....friends don't try to kill you!!!!!

First thing you will notice, or your Dentist will, is your gums. Second thing you wont smell bad to other people.
You made a good decision, stick to it. See ya at Daily Roll Call and the Pledge, if you can make it, if not, do the Saturday and Sunday one.
Make the commitment, get rid of every single indication of smoking (ashtrays, lighters, cigarettes, everything) and just do it....... use the patch, gum, wellbutrin..... whatever you need to help you succeed but the most important thing is your commitment. The first week sucks..... but then it gets rapidly easier.

It will take time for you to be comfortable with a smokefree life. At the moment you associate everything you do with smoking. The longer you stay quit the easier it will become. Come here each day for roll call and pledge that will keep you accountable and motivated. When you crave remember the 5 D,s delay,distract,deep breathe, drink water and discuss

What really helped me was admitting I was an addict and just because its legal im not less of an addict.
Second was reading the Good Posts.
Accountability, I came here everyday to pledge and roll call until I was strong enough to be on my own.
