Make a list of things you can do to distract yourself.
Find a hobby....try beading, sewing, drawing, painting, making some kind of item to sell on ebay.
Take up walking or exercise of some sort (I recently went back to roller skating at the local rink twice a week).
Learn to knit or crochet.
Read or write (journal or write a booklet on something you are knowledgeable about and sell it on ebay.
Watch TV or a movie.
If all else fails.....take a nap :)
Know that urges and triggers will come. Hang in there and make a conscious choice to choose something else to do instead of smoking. It will take time to make the change or to let the change replace the old behavior.....so be patient until you find the right replacement :)
Drink tons of water. Leave the house or wherever it is that you feel like smoking. Do not hang out with other smokers.....for now. Keep busy while they are out smoking.
Obtain and keep a positive attitude....you are not losing your best friend......friends don't try to kill you.
Throw the ciggs and anything associated out!!!!!
Start cleaning the house.......and launder old clothes you wish to keep. Enjoy the fresh smell of your clothes and linens.....
Bake some bread or something good and enjoy the smell :)
You can do this. You don't have to be alone.....reach out to the boards or friends who have quit or are non smokers.
