I lost one of my aunts to cancer right before Christmas, her funeral is tomorrow, I know all about scared.
If nothing else works just think about how happy it would make your aunt to know you have quit. She wouldn't want to see you go through the same thing she is.
Lean on us, read as much as you can in "good posts'', take a deep breath and let go.
Tough love is not judging someone or putting someone down . It is simply spelling out the cold hard truths of the addiction. Fighting an addiction cannot be sugarcoated. You also have to remember that we communicate through the written word and one's interpretation may be different from another's, including the intent of the original poster.
I have shared replys w others on other support groups. Gee my intent to get others to join me here, will, after shareing reply, we will see if they wish to come here.
I did not know nor do I know people on this group. I know that I left other groups because I don't like drama nor an abundance of Cl's on n visiting same group, but I do like humor.
Since last night @ 7PM ( Fri.1/4/13) n as of 3PM on 1/5/13, I have had 2.5 cigs :I,sigh.
Again Thank you for the warm welcome.
Does anyone know of another smoking site/group on DS ?
Is the site. I saw it today in a chemist in London.
Admiral, please do NOT think you were being judged, put down or picked on. We are all here for the same reason, to quit smoking,to break this terrible addiction that is chemical, physical, mental and even emotional.
Cutting back with a quit date planned is a great way to start. Everyone has their own method of quitting that works best for them.
You may have misinterpreted Sambod as all she was doing was informing you that sometimes a form of tough love is needed. We have several here, including me that when asked, will 'tell it like it is'.We do not want anyone to be unsucessful and only offer up advise from our own experiences.
We do not know your planned quit date but join us daily for our Roll Call and when you are ready to completely walk away, join us for our daily pledge. Get to know us and let us get to know you.

i have nothing against people cutting down to attempt to quit. if it works for you, hey , go for it but eventually, ya gotta make the choice to set a quit date and put them down completely or not. Until then, imo , i call it a pre quit. you're preparing to quit because quitting is just that.. quitting, putting them down and not picking them back up. quitting is not easy. it takes a tremendous amount of believing in yourself and determination. external factors such as stress, illness, are all factors in dealing with a quit but part of quitting is learning how to handle these things without a cigarette.
So, admiral, good luck to ya. i can relate to your story about your aunt. my grandmother lost a lobe due to cancer and at the end of her life, i sat with her for three hours listening to her fight for every breath until she passed. i do hope you succeed.
