Nicotine is typically eliminated from the body within 2 to 3 days, however, physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms may last for much longer depending on the individual. For the first 4 months I smoked, I told NO ONE... It was my "dirty lil secret"...
Then I left my husband & moved in with my sister...
She & her husband both smoked & I told them my secret & smoked with the two of them for almost 6 months without my daughter knowing...
I made some terrible choices while trying to hide my smoking from my daughter... My sister would sit closest to the door with her hand on the knob & I'd sit in the far corner of the garage ready to run & hide...
I would allow my daughter to spend whole weekends at her friend's house so that I could have the freedom to smoke without having to hide.
In essence, I would give my daughter away so that I could have the freedom to smoke... It's really sad now that I think about it...
Thanks Viv for this post...
She was one of the biggest factors in me quittin cuz if I'd get mad at the X, she run over with a pack of cigarettes...
I still have a pack of 3 unopened in her freezer & one that's opened in her pantry...
Anyway... Just makes me think of what I was willing to do to be able to smoke...
It really is sad!!!
I was always able to afford my habit but when I think of the money I spent after 37 years of smoking - it makes me sad.... I could have paid cash for both my kids colleges with that money!!! I'm glad to be quit now- thats for sure.

About 3 months after I had moved into my sister's, my daughter had gone to spend the weekend at her friend's house. I was relaxed, knowing I could smoke when & where I wanted...
My bil had a car that he had taken the front end apart to repaint & I was reading a book, so I went sat on the other side of that car... I had just lit up when my daughter came out the back door & called my name...
The door was only about 15 yards from the back door which meant I had very little time to put the cig out...
Well, I put that cig out in the grass & ended up burnin my pointer finger tip & the base & between my pointer & thumb... OH THE PAIN!!!
Didn't tell daughter anything about it... Daughter just forgot to get her money for the movies... All was good... I fished the money out of my right pants pocket with my left hand...
By next mornin, the burns were blistered... I had done a good job burning my hand....
Next day, daughter comes home... I was cookin my nephew a grilled cheese & daughter walked up & saw my hand. I took the hot spatula & touched it to my right hand (ON THE BURNS OF COURSE) & SAID, DANG, I did it again...
Daughter thought I had burned my hand twice...
Talk about go through a lot of pain just to hide my secret...
I'm so glad the lying is over & I no longer smoke...
