I've been searching the net for the very same problem. I quit smoking 8 days ago and I'm having shortness of breath.
Pretty much what I've read is that its normal for the first few weeks.
I agree - very strange for this to happen after quitting - so i'm hoping to just ride it out for another 2 weeks or so and then ask my dr if it continues.
SOB is common after quitting. Some folks have anxiety after quitting which in some cases causes SOB.
Depending on how long you smoked there could be an underlying cause of the SOB. You have to remember, if you smoked you have damaged something.
Talk to the Doc again about anxiety maybe he can help. If you continue to be SOB after taking anxiety meds.....get in with your Pulmonary Doctor and get checked out again.
