Hi everyone. Hope all of y'all are on your way to recovery from your smoking addiction. I pray my husband will be joining you soon.
My DH is a 2 pk a day smoker, and has been for the past 30+ years. Lately (past 6 months or so) he has been talking more about wanting to quit smoking. He has been talking w/ his doctor about it, and has mentioned it to me. (He asks that I don't bring up the subject b/c he feels like I'm nagging him, and I know that can be very counter-productive, so I remain quite and pray alot.) A couple years back he tried to quit using a patch and it didn't work for him. He is familiar with the 12-step program as be are both recovering alcoholics and are very active in our programs of recovery, but he can't seem to work it on the tobacco. Chantix is out of the question b/c he suffers from chronic depression and both he and I fear the very negative side effects. He has been interested in hypnosis, and I am supportive of any method he uses to quit smoking.
So my question is, has anyone used hypnosis to quit smoking? How successful where you? How do you find a reputable hypnotist? How expensive (If you don't mind sharing) was it? Does it work long term? I guess I would like hear about your experiences with hypnosis.
Also, does tobacco use effect a man's libido and/or sexual performance?

About the libido/sexual performance, Did you know there's a valve in the penis that traps the blood inside that causes erection? That every time a man smokes this valve is damaged? This is the same thing that is happening in the blood vessels throughout the rest of the body, it's just that given the dual function in this particular part, it is noticed more. (Sorry if this seems graphic, job hazard from working with doctors.)
I have a friend who has been quit for going on 19 years, so Hypnosis did work for her. She went with a friend of hers, she was not wanting to quit..it just happened, amazing as that sounds it is true. It worked for her friend also, I don't remember the cost, but it was a seminar type there was a group of people. Also my Aunt tried it, it worked for her, but she had to go back 2 times. I say, tell him to go for it.
