I dont know how any of you feel about eating meat, but for the one's that do enjoy eating meat just a small example of how stopping smoking can change your life style in a good way. I used to buy chickens 2 for 6, but after watching a program on the television showing how they were reared it put me right off buying chickens that were reared that way the didn't see any sunlight and were so crammed together they couldn't move and they were ready in 40 days. It also showed how the organic chicken is raised the difference was tremendous and they aren't ready for 80 days and the difference in taste was incredible, so I decided from now on I will only buy the organic chicken. So off I went to the supermarket and boy did I have a shock, the price of the organic chicken was 8 for 1, after a mind battle the only way I could persuade myself to buy it, was I used to spend more than that daily on cigarettes so I then bought it as a reward, and it tasted wonderful so from now on its organic chicken for me, because as a non-smoker I can afford the best. I've seen the movie you're talking about Viv and it changed my way of thinking about chicken and all meat really.
I am so glad that you feel this way. I am not vegetarian but I will only buy free range meat eggs etc or meat that is reared in a humane way.
Here in Spain we have corn fed, free range, organic chicken. It is wonderful. In the UK, in the supermarkets we used to see big, plump pale chickens. They were made that way artificially by injecting fluids into them. Here the chickens are less plump but they have so much flavour. Added to this they had a much happier life before coming to the table.
I know vegetarians may have a problem with all of this but if you are going to eat meat then I feel this is the only way to go.
Of course quitting smoking allows us to spend more money on things but even if you do not have the money I say have chicken half as often and spend twice the price.
