We all are very aware of the dangers of smoking. Right now, Congress is considering legislation that will give the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the authority to regulate tobacco products and ban candy cigarettes.
I urge every U.S. citizen to send the letter on the site below to their legislators, asking for the passage of this bill.
To the right of the letter are two places for your information. If you are already a member of the American Heart Associations "You're The Cure" advocacy network, you only need to enter your last name and e-mail address. If not, as I'm not, you will need to fill out the boxes under "Please register to take action by filling out form below." Once you click the Submit button, you will be taken to a page where you have the opportunity, if you desire, to add your personal voice to the letter. Keep in mind that this letter is copied to all your legislators, so don't put something in that targets just one.

My dad used to buy me candy cigs when I was little, ironic!
Bans were considered in 1970 and 1991, but never passed Congress. I wonder why? Perhaps because candy cigarettes have been linked to a greater chance of future tobacco use and the government really likes the tobacco industry's tax monies.
